Week ending October 21st

This week I went to site for the Hermanus hospital. We went on wednesady and spent most of the day on site. I was part of a technical meeting in discussions with Architects, consultants and checking on the progress of the hospital. There were issues brought up concerning roofing details which needed to be resolved as well as seeing the harsh side of being an architect when builders were not building walls properly which resulted in the architects demanding for the walls for an entire zone to be demolished and re-built. However, it was a welcome change where I was hands on with the project.

Week ending October 14th

this week was much like the other week with more C-sheets for the hospitals. There weren't too many mark-ups being received from London therefore I was switching onto other projects being handled by other teams in the firm and being involved in different hospital projects .. Doing C-Sheets .....

Week ending October 7th

This week I was involved in more C-sheets for the Glasgow Hospital as well as the Hospital in Papworth. It was not too demanding, thus giving me the chance to focus on my university work .

It was nice catching up with other students as well as working with them on designing for the St. Michael School functions and presenting my hub for a preliminary crit. A highlight was watching a video compiled by Tiago dos santos, which was inspiring and also served as a reminder of what one can achieve which I will admit was becoming distorted with all the admin work thats also involved with firms due to maintaining costs and other things for projects ..

Week ending June 3rd

This week I was off on Monday and Tuesday inorder to focus on my university work. However, it was the major task I had been busy with the entire week. One of the highlights of the week was seeing my name in a published for Nightingale Associates. Its the little things that bring a smile to one's face I guess.

Health, peace and blessings to all o y'all.

Week ending May 27th

This week has seen Alfie_Ricardo complete the access hatch detail, which conformed to the existing ceiling grid. It was great to have some original design input in something that had not been done for the hospital. Adding to this, I was commisioned the task of adding a ceiling walkway in an Operating Theatre void space where there was equipment to be stored so I had to put the walk way in which would cater for the accessing person. So it was great to also do another mini-design exercise.

Week ending May 6th

Hey hey people, I hope who reads this is in great spirits. The week has been a little hectic with trying to finish up drawings for the survey and trying to beat deadlines. I've been continuing with the NOAH house. We checked the areas of the rooms I had drawn up and discoverd that the rooms didn't meet the minimum requirements for the required room sizes so we started redesigning the entire house in order to try and achieve the required areas which was quite nice. Well, thats all from me. Health and joy to you all.

Later days.

week ending April 29th

Hello people, this week has been a continuation of the house that we measured up so I drew up sections and elevations of the house. Its been a very short week, quite peaceful too because there have been very few people working due to the holidays thus most of the employees had the entire week off and it was really empty. Well, a fantastic long weekend to everyone.

Later days.

Week ending April 22nd

This week myself and 2 other students (Ghaarith and Andrea), along with an architect from our firm went to an existing house on Monday in order to measure it up and provide information on the state in which it is in for a survey that is needed for a Group called Noah which provides homes for independent elderly people. This week I drew up the plan of the house.

Week ending April 15th

Hey all, my apologies for not blogging as of late but I have not had any internet access and its been quite a hectic past 3 weeks. The week ending on the 15th did not really have any set things going on so I was all ove the office helping out other teams with data information.

Week Ending April 8th

Hey everybody, hope you're all healthy and well as you read this. This week has been pretty relaxed. Didn't really do any office work this week as our new project only commences next week so I took the liberty to do some sketches for my sketch book as well as continuing with the new hub design for my submission today. I have learnt some valuable through research for my design. Hopefully the new project starts next week and I will give you all updates on what happens with it.

So from me to all of you - Joy and health !!

Site Week

This week started off with a meeting on Monday with 2 clients who need to have 12 properties measured, drawn up and possibly refurbished and 1 being possibly redesigned for homes for independant elderley people. I also went on site to Hermanus for the Hermanus Hospital upgrade. There were 2 meetings, a technical and empowerment meeting. The technical one involving costs, structural issues as well as movement of a troublesome Telkom line which is in the way of trenches being dug for the extension of the hospital basement and the empowerment meeting involving the employment opportunities for skilled and semi-skilled workers (labour) on site, training of the workers and the type of training involved. Also this week, I was involved in the drawing/ cadding up of a 4th floor plan for a new hospital in McGill. Its been a mixed week of balancing work, redesigning my hub, sleeping and that other important component - staying healthy.

Week

Fabulous week in which I have been involved with room layouts for 2 hospitals. Myself and Ghaarith were given the afternoon off on Wednesday due to 2 straight weeks of overtime. It felt like a Monday last year after a Studio Work hand-in. Now time to sort out my blog and add more images of my current work thus far.
